What we offer: Tidbits on book writing and publishing and marketing for local authors

Topics for future meetings (your suggestions are welcome):

We will create programming to meet the needs of the authors who actively attend. The best topics will be those that pertain to all genres. We will recruit local experts to present, and most of the time those experts will be members of this group.

  • Trends in publishing

  • How to market your book (ways you never thought of)

  • The craft of writing from those who excel

  • How to tap into book clubs

  • What is copyright (so you don’t do it all wrong)

  • Local educational learning opportunities for writing

  • What is editing and why you need to edit before publishing

  • How to join the local book festival and showcase your book

  • The art of the children’s book

  • Tricks to navigate KDP/Amazon and IngramSpark

  • How to buy your book in bulk and save money

  • Bookstore tour and why some books get shelf space and others don’t

  • What your library can do for you

  • Awards programs, which ones to enter and how to win

  • What readers are reading and how to tailor your book

  • Collaborative and collective book-selling opportunities

  • Networking with authors and editors and readers

  • How to get more Amazon reviews without bribing your friends

  • What is beta reading and how it will help you write a better book

  • Your suggestions

This is not a critique group. But the opportunities for networking with like-minded authors writing in your genre will be obvious.
